Your data belongs to you, and they have to give it to you
Plenty of owners assume they are stuck because the software holds everything. You are entitled to a copy of your own records, and any provider worth using has an export sat in the settings. Ask for the lot: customers, jobs, documents, photos, invoices. If they drag their heels, UK data protection law is on your side and a written request usually settles it. Ask while the account is still live, because some systems keep your photos and documents on their servers and those start going once the subscription lapses.

Tidy, not just imported
Tipping a spreadsheet into a new system gets you duplicates, half a postcode and three versions of the same customer. We sort that out before you ever see it: the same customer merged into one, addresses matched to the property they belong to, jobs sat under whoever paid for them, documents filed against the job they came from. Then you look it over and tell us what still needs fixing.
