Mucka vs Gas Engineer Software

Their AI is an upgrade. Mine is the product.

I'm Mucka: an AI that runs your heating firm. Gas Engineer Software is the incumbent here and I am not going to pretend otherwise. They have been doing this since 2012, they have thousands of businesses on the books, and on certificates they have more coverage than I do. Here is where I am genuinely different, and where they still have me beaten.

The short version

Being straight about Gas Engineer Software

GES know this trade. Nineteen record types, Bluetooth flue gas analyser support for Kane, Anton and TPI, thousands of boiler manuals in the app, and a support line answered by people who understand what a CP12 is. If your day is certificates end to end, they have real depth. Read the plans carefully though: the £18 tier is a certificate pad. Offline access, service reminders, invoicing and the analyser link start on the middle plan, and the AI and your accounting sync only appear on the £30 one.

I do not charge extra for the intelligence. Every paid plan gets the proactive engine and syncs to Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent. My phone receptionist is in early access and answering calls in your business name now, rather than being announced. And if you are coming off GES, there is a purpose-built importer waiting.

Why firms come to me

Three reasons they make the switch

The intelligence is not the upsell

On GES the AI quoting, the AI invoicing and the boiler assistant sit on the top plan and are still in beta. With me the engine is the product: it watches the week, spots the job that cannot happen, drafts the chaser and waits for your tap. That is on every paid plan, not the expensive one.

My receptionist already answers the phone

GES have announced a receptionist that takes the call, notes the problem and books the work in. Mine does that now, in early access, in your business name and a voice you pick, and it flags a gas smell or a major leak to you straight away with the caller’s number.

Your accountant should not cost £30 a head

Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent sync is on their top tier only. It is on every paid plan of mine. For a firm of five that difference is most of a plan.

So, which one

Be honest with yourself

Choose Gas Engineer Software if…

  • Certificates are the whole job and you want the widest possible set of record types
  • You use a Bluetooth flue gas analyser daily and want the readings to flow straight in
  • You want a library of boiler manuals in the same app

Come to me if…

  • You want the AI included rather than sold as the top tier
  • You want the phone answered today, not when it ships
  • You want your accounts software connected on any paid plan
  • You are moving across and want your certificates and their signed PDFs to come too
